This year, in communities across the country, tens of thousands of people will participate in one of over fifty PurpleStride events. These events range in size from brief walks to longer timed-runs, but they all share one common goal - to end pancreatic cancer.

Come join in this day of inspiration!

PurpleStride St. Louis: a timed 5K run and 1 mile walk includes opening ceremonies, children's activities, music, refreshments and raises funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

We have a need for volunteers between approximately 5:30 AM and 11:30 AM, with shifts that range from two hours to the whole event. To volunteer, simply go to www.purplestride.org/stlouis and register as a volunteer and then you will be sent a link to choose your volunteer task and time slot.

Available volunteer assignments:

Setup - assisting with general setup duties, may include heavy lifting

Greeter - welcoming participants and handing out purple giveaways; directing people to registration, stage, start line, etc.

Crowd Control - help make sure participants know where to be when the event starts and help with line management during registration

Registration - helping with initial registrations and distributing T-shirts and race bibs

Food & Beverage Tent - setting up area, passing out food and beverage

Purple Play Zone - helping supervise activities for children and families

Purple Store - selling Pancreatic Cancer Action Network merchandise

Water Station on Race Route - distributing water to runners and walkers along race route

Race Route - making sure walkers and runner stay on the designated course

Cleanup - general clean-up of event site, may require heavy lifting

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Description

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network:

1. Raises money for direct private research funding and advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

2. Fills the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers reliable, personalized information they need to make informed decisions.

3. Helps support individuals and communities all across the country work together to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network National Office is located in Manhattan Beach, CA with over 60 volunteer-run affiliates around the county, including St. Louis.

As a volunteer with the St. Louis Affiliate, you join a network of volunteers focused on advancing research, supporting patients and creating hope in five key areas:

1. Awareness

2. Media

3. Advocacy

4. Events

5. Education and Outreach

Help us create a sense of hope and community so no one has to face pancreatic cancer alone.
