ABOUT US
Volunteer Polk is a county-wide volunteer center of the Polk County, FL Board of County Commissioners. We connect individuals/groups who would like to volunteer with government, non-profit or faith-based organizations who are seeking volunteers.
We are pleased to work with assisting:
- Homeschoolers
- Students enrolled in Polk County, FL Public Schools
- Students enrolled in Private Schools in Polk County
- College Students (either a Class/Scholarship Requirement or Internships)
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Age requirements will vary depending on the type of assignment selected and the policies of the organization/agency providing the volunteer opportunity. Typically, there are special events/fairs, etc. that may accept 14-year-olds and assignments for 16 year-olds thru Adult are even more abundant.
WHAT ABOUT STUDENTS 13 AND YOUNGER?
Assignments for these age groups can often be a bit more challenging to locate. Many agencies are often restricted to certain minimum age in compliance with their insurance policies. However, we DO have some of our non-profit Agency Partners who occasionally will have opportunities for this age group, and occasionally there will be some agencies that will allow younger students to participate as long as one of their parents accompany them.
VOLUNTEER POLK's SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT FOR YOUNGER VOLUNTEERS TO PARTICIPATE IN LEARNING TO CARE ABOUT THEIR COMMUNITY: We will be glad to work with adult leaders of community/school or church youth programs to customize a service project their group containing young students/scouts/little leaguers, etc. can perform during their meeting times or as a special group activity at a different time.
