The Power Pack Program (P3) was created to provide elementary school aged children with a food pack for the weekend. These packs include 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 dinner items, 2 snacks, and 2 drinks. These packs allow the children to be certain they will not be hungry over the weekend. This program was very successful last year but we need your help to continue feeding the kids!
This opportunity is flexible and can be conducted whenever and wherever you choose! You can do a food drive or purchase the food, assemble the packs with family and friends, and then deliver the packs to Food for Others when you have completed them.
The following link will give you an idea of what a power pack looks like, along with a kit that shows how you, your family, friends, organization or business can help out!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to distribute food to our neighbors in need by mobilizing our giving community and volunteers.
Description
In our nation’s capital area, the high cost of living forces many families who are struggling to make ends meet to choose between spending money for food, or on other basic needs such as housing and healthcare. Since 1995, Food for Others has been helping many of these families.
Food for Others is an important part of Northern Virginia’s safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes and for the growing number of working poor who need to supplement their inadequate food supplies.
Food for Others obtains much of its food through food rescue operations and food drives. Staff and volunteers pick up good food that would have been discarded by local grocery stores and other retail food establishments. The food is brought to the warehouse for temporary storage, including refrigeration as appropriate. Food drives provide the majority of our non-perishable food.
Local merchants, the USDA, food drives, and crop harvests provide the food; volunteers and staff provide the hands; and charitable contributions and fundraising events provide the funds.
