Do you enjoy the energy and enthusiasm for life generated when teens come together?

The 4-H Youth Development Intern (non-paid -experience is PRICELESS!) will gain practical experience in the field of research-based youth development, and network with University of Florida faculty to bridge the understanding between theory and practice. For all duties that are asked of the intern, appropriate guidance and training will be provided by the 4-H agent.

Two primary focuses during the Spring or Summer Semester 2013:

  • Expand the overall Polk County 4-H Youth Development program’s capacity to outreach to new audiences in Polk County through communications and public relations activities. Gain experience and material samples for your job portfolio.

  • Initiate youth development opportunities and 4-H programs in an underserved Polk community, such as African-American, Mexican/lation/Hispanic or a community with low economic resources.

Requirements:

  • Student majoring in fields related to youth development, community development and relations, government affairs or communications
  • A self-motivated personality is essential
  • Experience and comfort level in public speaking
  • Occasional evening or weekend opportunities if your schedule permits
  • May attend professional development meetings/conferences
  • Possess or able to possess a FL Drivers' License with safe driving record
