The volunteer, working with a professional staff of attorneys and case coordinators, advocates for the best interest and needs of the abused or neglected child before the court, as well as within the social service agencies.

The GAL follows the child's progress throughout the duration of the case, monitoring the child's safety, well being and welfare, and advocating for returning the child to a safe and loving home, or advocating for a permanent adoptive home.

The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is a partnership of community advocates and professional staff providing a powerful voice on behalf of Florida's abused and neglected children.
