Do you love social media, want to advance your Journalism, English, Communications, or Marketing studies, make international friends, engage with your community, or increase your understanding of other cultures? Join the Global Refugee Center team as a Social Media/Marketing Intern! Job Description: Update the GRC Facebook page with articles, graphics, and world news about refugees, news from the office, and other relevant information. Research and implement strategies to engage the social media community and promote the mission of the Global Refugee Center. Assist with writing GRC's monthly newsletter. Research other social media avenues such as Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, etc. Manage content of www.grccolorado.org and update website as necessary. Design and distribute marketing materials for events and other causes as they arise. Commitment: 1 or more positions available. Minimum 1 day per week, anytime between 9am and 5pm (other hours may be done at home). At least one semester commitment. Qualifications: Associates degree or higher, BA/BS (or working towards degree) preferred. Must have excellent writing ability and knowledge of marketing and social media. English, Jounralism, Communications, Marketing or similar course of study recommended. Must be a flexible self-starter; experience working with people from other cultures is a plus. Description
The Global Refugee Center, Inc. (GRC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit in Greeley, CO that educates, empowers, and advocates on behalf of the refugee population living in the community. The GRC promotes self-sufficiency in refugees by implementing programs in Education, Health, Finance, Culture, and Civil & Human Rights. The GRC's serves newcomers from 47 different countries in Africa, Asia, North and Central America who speak more than two dozen languages and practice at least four religions. GRC is entirely volunteer driven, with 3 full-time/2 part-time staff who dedicate their time without compensation and 60 other individuals who contribute anywhere from one hour a month to twenty hours a week. In the three and a half years since it's founding in 2008, the GRC has significantly impacted the lives of refugees living in Greeley and Weld County, Colorado.
