Want to advance your Human Service, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related studies, make international friends, engage with your community, or increase your understanding of other cultures? Join our diverse team at the Global Refugee Center as a Case Management Intern! Job Description: Assist GRC's diverse clientele with job searches and applications, Weld County Work Force applications, USCIS and immigration forms, human service applications (PEAK, TANF, SNAP, etc.) and other applications. Help clients with bill payment/questions, schedule medical appointments, create email addresses and resumes, provide referrals to local agencies, and research other resources in the community. Register, test, and assist in placement of new students in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. Compile GRC intake forms and manage Case Management Log. Answer questions from clients as they arise (and research answers as needed). Compile monthly WCWF billing. Commitment: 2-3 positions available. 9am-12pm, minimum 2 days per week. At least one semester commitment. Qualifications: Associates degree or higher, BA/BS (or working towards degree) preferred. Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related coursework recommended. Must be a flexible self-started; experience working with people from different cultures is a plus. Academic credit may be available pending the approval of your college/university. Description
The Global Refugee Center, Inc. (GRC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit in Greeley, CO that educates, empowers, and advocates on behalf of the refugee population living in the community. The GRC promotes self-sufficiency in refugees by implementing programs in Education, Health, Finance, Culture, and Civil & Human Rights. The GRC's serves newcomers from 47 different countries in Africa, Asia, North and Central America who speak more than two dozen languages and practice at least four religions. GRC is entirely volunteer driven, with 3 full-time/2 part-time staff who dedicate their time without compensation and 60 other individuals who contribute anywhere from one hour a month to twenty hours a week. In the three and a half years since it's founding in 2008, the GRC has significantly impacted the lives of refugees living in Greeley and Weld County, Colorado.
