ORGANIZATION: Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region

The Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) Coordinator Intern is an unpaid project based internship responsible for providing assistance to the SCSEP North Coordinator in terms of identifying and matching participant’s and SCSEP enrollees’ skills and strengths. The SCSEP Coordinator Intern works in partnership with the SCSEP North Coordinator in developing SCSEP participants to become more employable and job ready.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts assessments (using standard assessment tools, skill matching procedures, etc.) to identify participant’s vocational and personal strengths and skills.
  • Creates training sites to match with participants need in order for them to gain employable skills.
  • Conducts individual and group trainings for SCESP participant’s to teach job search, application, resume, interviewing, and other soft skills that will improve their ability to secure unsubsidized employment.
  • Assists the SCSEP North Coordinator in job developing and placement activities.
  • Attends monthly Tacoma Goodwill corporate partner meetings to match job leads for SCSEP enrollees.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; Some college or AA, BA/BS preferred. A minimum of 12 months in a related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures. Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Ability to speak effectively with management, participants, employees and clients from a broad range of backgrounds.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Intermediate skill level in Microsoft office suite products including Outlook, Word, Excel and a working understanding of a network and shared folders.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the intern is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The intern is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The intern must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Intern is also required to observe office protocol, dress codes and must show professional demeanor.

Interns must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
