Do you enjoy working with school age children and teens? If you have a willingness and a desire to help kids learn and succeed we have a great opportunity for you as the volunteer Homework Zone Program Coordinator.
The North Natomas Library's after school homework program will start in September and will be offered every Wednesday, from 3:15 to 5:45pm. The Homework Zone follows the school calendar observing school closures for holidays and breaks. Local teens act as coaches to elementary and high school students who drop in to get help with their school work.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework, providing general oversight and direction for the program which includes room logistics (set up/clean up) ensuring teen coaches are matched with students and ensuring homework zone attendance records are completed.
You are comfortable interacting with children, teens and adults; able to work independently in a team-oriented, public service environment. Familiarity and basic understanding of Common Core is a plus but not required.
Training and orientation to be scheduled prior to the September 2017 start of the program.
Requires a Live Scan background check for volunteers over 18.
Please consider this opportunity - you can make a big difference for youth in your community.
