Volunteer Position Description: Farmer’s Market Volunteer for the New Leaf Bakery Café Job Training Program and Growing Hope Garden. Hang out with some awesome people at the Farmer's Markets and sell New Leaf's goods and produce. Training provided. Fill out Volunteer Application here.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service skills
  • Punctuality
  • Transportation (farmer’s markets are on a busline)
  • Ability to count back change
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to arrange displays and communicate information about the New Leaf/Growing Hope program

Duties:

  • Assist staff in set up and tear down of farmer’s market tent and display tables
  • Staff tables during market hours
  • Monitor products for quality and alert staff if there are any issues
  • Assist staff in ensuring compliance with all appropriate market rules and regulations
  • Engage customers as they pass by the table, explaining program and products of the New Leaf/Growing Hope
  • Answer program-related questions as they arise
  • Collect money from customers and make appropriate change

Schedule: Tuesday afternoons from 2.30 until 6.30, and Thursday afternoons from 2.30 until 7.30.

Transitions works with low-income and homeless women & children to provide transitional housing, counseling, childhood development, and job training.
