The Youth Homes annual Hearts for Hope fundraising event is our signature event in October. Make new friends and make a difference in the lives of traumatized foster and former foster youth by helping raise funds. Here are some ways you can help:
Sponsorship
- Responsible for corporate sponsorships of the event.
Fundraising
- Responsible for strategically planning and obtaining raffle, live and silent auction items with guidance from the committee.
- Review the results from past raffle and auctions, and share ideas with the committee for feedback.
Decorations:
- Decorations for evening including entry way, cocktail hour, main dining room, centerpieces. Also responsible for displays for auction items.
Live Auction Displays:
- Decorate the live auction display table with décor and signage
Entertainment
- Responsible for researching options for entertainment during cocktail hour, pre and post dinner. Responsible for communication with the entertainment, arranging arrival time and identifying their needs for the evening of (eg: performance space, meals, etc)
Fun
- Responsible for creating fun activity during cocktail reception.
Logistics
- Responsible for the timeline and coordinating volunteers for and during the evening of the event.
Powerpoint and Photo slideshow
- Responsible for the creating powerpoint and photo slideshow displayed during reception.
Day of Volunteers
- Assist with set-up and clean up

Description
Founded in 1965 by citizens concerned that troubled youth were consigned to the criminal justice system, Youth Homes has assisted thousands of children. We began by providing group homes with in-home counseling. We are the oldest, continually operating children’s residential program in Contra Costa County. Faced with new challenges, public agencies turned to us to create new and innovative programs to serve foster children in emergency situations. Today, we provide a comprehensive system of care--we assist traumatized youth through crisis shelters, private foster home placement, residential care facilities and community based behavioral counseling, which helps prevent out-of-home placement.
Youth 17-20 leaving our care receive ongoing counseling via Aftercare Services. Our Mentor Program volunteers provide reliable adult connections for residential and emancipated clients. The Youth Homes organic garden program provides job training and fresh healthy food for all the group homes.
