Change lives by teaching English as a Second Language this spring.
Teach English to non-English speaking adults.
Volunteer one day per week (2 hours) for 12 weeks (September 15-December 11).
Monday-Thursday morning, afternoon and evening classes.
All classes are co-taught, curriculum & training is provided. No teaching experience or foreign language required! Minimum age to volunteer is 18.

VMLC is dedicated to improving English literacy levels among non-English speaking adults and their young children by providing programs in communication and life skills. The mission of Literacy Achieves is to equip non-English speaking adults and their young children with English literacy and life skills to promote self-sufficiency and the overall well-being of our students, their families and the greater community.
Description
At Literacy Achieves, more than 300 compassionate and committed volunteer teachers teach all the ESL classes, giving close to 1,100 students much needed support and encouragement, while developing mutual respect and understanding for one another through a common purpose of learning English.
We understand the difficulty many non-native English speakers have in finding the time, transportation, childcare or money they need in order to attend English language classes. Our programs are effective because we remove these barriers by providing:

- Access to Quality Early Childhood Programs
- Classes Free of Charge, yet Accountability Driven
- A Structured Program Approach with Multiple Levels Offered Through Daily Classes
