Neighbors engages over 1650 volunteers annually in service to the community. The Talent Engagement Intern is an integral member of the Volunteer Programs Department to recruit, orient, and recognize new volunteers. This is an opportunity for students interested in a volunteer management or human resources career to gain first-hand knowledge and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old and a currently enrolled post-secondary student pursuing a degree in human resources, social services, volunteer management, nonprofit management, or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional etiquette on the telephone. Able to read, write and speak the English language fluently (Spanish language helpful, but not necessary)
  • Have a valid driver’s license, regular access to a motor vehicle, and evidence of current insurance
  • Must possess an outgoing personality and be comfortable in initiating social exchange with a wide variety of people from all age, social, economic and ethnic demographic groups.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated, and passionate about Neighbors’ mission.

Commitment

As determined by the requirement of the internship program guidelines. A minimum of 10-15 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined upon acceptance--some tasks may require service outside of normal business hours. Neighbors business hours are 8:15-4:30, Monday through Friday.

Volunteers serve their neighbors in need through programs such as a food shelf, Clothes Closet thrift store, holiday assistance, and much more. At Neighbors, all donations and volunteer service directly supports the local community.
