The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Georgia Amateur Boxing Association (GABA)
is in need of volunteers to help keep SAFETY FIRST for our kids.
Do you want to help?
Work alongside other amatuer boxing officials, athletes,
coaches, and gain enough experience to work
national tournaments. Meanwhile, helping youth
succeed within our communities throughout Georgia!
The path to volunteering as a USA Boxing Official is:
- Join USA Boxing as a member.
- It costs approximately $60.00 a year and includes a background check.
- You can register at any amateur boxing show with Buddy Davis, president of GABA or by mail.
- The membership application can be found online at http://www.usaboxing.org/content/index/43. - Attend a certification clinic.
This is free, however, Officials must be registered and certified to
participate in sanctioned competitions. - Complete the training path.
In Georgia, new judges have to successfully "mock judge" a minimum
of 50 bouts prior to working a match that affects a decision.
There is a free USA Boxing rulebook available to
download at http://www.usaboxing.org to assist
officials. Simply click on "Download USA Boxing's
Rulebook" on the front page, and then click on the
"2008 Rulebook" PDF file.
