Mobile Adoption

Would you like to save pets lives? We need you! We are the Animal Foster Team, a group of devoted volunteers supporting the rehabilitation and care of animals selected to enter the adoption program for HCPHES Veterinary Public Health. Cats and dogs placed in foster homes can be too young to be apart from a mother, ill, malnourished or suffering from a minor skin condition. Or could be simply because temporarily we do not have enough space for them at the shelter! All dogs, cats, puppies and kittens receive screening, treatment and medications/prescriptions from the veterinarians at HCPHES Veterinary Public Health. Appointments for future treatments, like vaccinations, de-wormer and spay/neuter surgery are tentatively scheduled for the Animal Foster volunteer to return with the fostered animal. The success of this program is a direct result of the generosity of our foster homes that donate their undivided attention to our animals in need. The focus of this program is to make as many animals as possible eligible to enter the adoption program and find suitable and forever homes.

Mission Statement

Harris County Veterinary Public Health works in close partnership with the community to create a safe and healthy environment for people and animals.

Description

We accomplish our mission through bite case investigations, disease surveillance, animal law enforcement, stray animal control, education, rabies vaccination, policy development and registration of dogs and cats within unincorporated Harris County.

VPH is committed to providing humane, compassionate, quality care to animals in our facility. We attempt to return lost pets to their owners and strive to place as many of our unclaimed shelter animals as possible into new "forever homes" through our adoption program, the help of our rescue partners and transfers to other animal sheltering agencies.

For those animals that need a little extra "TLC" or veterinary care before they are suitable for adoption, we have a robust animal fostering team made up of dedicated staff and volunteers.
