The statistic is overwhelming: almost 1 in 3 kids in Chapel Hill and Carrboro go to bed hungry. TABLE seeks to meet that need by placing food directly into the hands of children. TABLE serves approximately 500 kids each week. We will take bags filled with healthy non-perishables and local produce to kids at schools, after school programs, and neighborhoods so they have food for the weekend when they don't have access to the free school meals. Our weekly volunteer shifts are listed below.
Food Check-In Team -- Sort and organize incoming food to ensure best use of food donations
Food Monitoring Team -- Make up the weekly menu, assess food supplies and make recommendations of "Most Needed" items, keep track of food expiration dates
Bag Filling Team -- Fill bags with non-perishable items, label and prepare bags for delivery
Fresh Food Bag Filling Team -- Bag up fresh food and add to bags filled with non-perishables
Delivery Team -- Deliver food to children at after-school programs in Carrboro and Chapel Hill!
SnackChef -- Prep healthy snacks at TABLE, then go to an afterschool center and make them with the kids there!
Volunteer shifts are subject to change. Contact us for more information!

Description
Through TABLE’s hunger relief programs, local children receive healthy, fresh and non-perishable foods like fruit, vegetables, granola bars, canned meat, juice boxes, and milk to take home. Student and community volunteers gather and distribute the food and host events to raise funds for TABLE programs.
TABLE is distributing more than 5,000 pounds of food per month to over 500 children in and around the neighborhoods of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, North Carolina. These youngsters are at risk for hunger during weekends and time of the year when these school meals are unavailable. TABLE’s hunger relief programs help local kids get through such times by providing them with nutritious food to bring home.
