Volunteer to feed children and play fun,outdoor activities at parks in Santa Maria!

In Santa Barbara County, 84% of children receive free or reduced lunches during the school year. In the summer, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County fills the gap. Your help is needed to supply children with nutritious lunches, education, and exercise at various parks June 17 - August 9. Site volunteers, Food Distributors, and Activity Leaders are needed weekdays, mid-day in Santa Maria. Volunteer 1 day, 1 day per week, or everyday.

Background checks are required (no cost). Must be 18 or older or 14+ with a parent. Must sign-up for and complete a 1 hour training.

Description

The Foodbank, through our warehouses in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, receives and distributes almost 5 million pounds of food annually and partners with 200 non-profit organizations between Morro Bay and Carpinteria to feed almost 100,000 needy people every year. Volunteers provide over 15,000 hours of service helping to inspect, sort, organize and distribute most of the food recieved by the Foodbank.
