ORGANIZATION: Gloucester County Senior Corps

Volunteers are needed to contact frail, isolated and homebound seniors in Gloucester County. Volunteer will be trained in their own house and must make a commitment to call everyday at the same time. This program provides free, friendly, daily phone calls to check on the seniors' safety and physical and mental well-being.

All calls will be in the volunteer's local area so that there are no telephone charges.

Mission Statement

Senior Corps is a network of national service programs for Americans 55 years and older to help improve lives and fostering civic engagement. Senior Corps volunteers commit their time to address critical community needs including academic tutoring and mentoring, elderly care, disaster relief support, and more.

Description

Gloucester County Senior Corps RSVP started in Gloucester County in 1972. Our sponsor is Rowan College at Gloucester County. Rowan College has been our sponsor since1982 and have provided excellent program oversight, financial guidance and quality control. Our program has 320 volunteer members and 60 agency organizations that receive volunteer help from the Senior Corps program. Our volunteer Opportunities range from literacy volunteers, tutors, visitors, food pantry assistance, Medicare counseling, daycare assistants, educational surrogates, stress buster programs for caregivers just to mention a few.
