ORGANIZATION: Art Squared

The Board of Directors is responsible for fiduciary and administrative oversight of all Art Squared programs and services. Board responsibilities include review and approval of agency fiscal reports, personnel actions, hiring and evaluation of the Executive Director, approval of new agency services, the establishment of policies for the agency, fund development, and long-range planning. The Board of Directors is staffed by the Executive Director of the agency who serves as a non-voting member.

The Board of Directors meets monthly, generally on the fourth week of each month. Set meeting time and date will be arranged by the board members at the first Board of Directors meeting.

One or more daylong planning retreats are scheduled yearly.

SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS OF BOARD MEMBERS INCLUDE:

  • Commitment to the philosophy of the organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to empowerment and decision making
  • Commitment to diversity in Board membership, staffing and agency services
  • Attendance at all Board meetings unless excused (2 hours/month)
  • Active membership in at least one Board committee/project
  • Commitment to assist in agency fund development
  • Active support of Art Squared programs/services
  • Willingness to serve as promoters of the agency in the community at large
  • Willingness to participate in all or part of volunteer orientation training
  • An annual contribution

Art Squared, founded in the Summer of 2010, by 10 year old Alabama artist, Hannah Walton, is a nonprofit organization which gives hope to artistic children all over the Southeast by providing free art classes, camps and other art enrichment activities. By providing these opportunities, talented future artist will be able to love, learn, nurture and grow in the world of art.
