This summer, Latinitas is hosting a series of free summer camps for low-income girls to build confidence and participate in an enriching experience. These camps will be held at local affordable housing centers, homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters. We will host week-long day camps throughout June and July focused on helping these pre-teen and teen girls in fostering a positive self-esteem through creative multimedia expression. Our camp features activities on photography, arts & crafts, acting, creative writing, filmmaking and much more. We are seeking volunteer camp counselors to co-lead our summer camp sessions at local community centers. We are seeking volunteers who can commit to 3 hours a day for at least a five day period. We are a looking for volunteers who can bring an energetic and enthusiastic attitude to help empower local girls and have fun. Training, activities and supplies are provided. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serve as a positive role model to campers 2. Prepare the day’s equipment and supplies 3. Take attendance, check-in the campers and organize "ice breakers." 4. Lead creative expression activities 5. Work as a partner with the Latinitas team to develop fun, educational activities. 8. Work with small groups of campers during activities. 9. Other tasks as assigned. 10. Have fun! SKILLS: Volunteers should enjoy working with youth, serve as a positive role model for campers, provide dependable, responsible support for staff and campers. TRAINING: A training session held in mid June prior to the start of summer camps. TIME REQUIREMENTS: One or two weeks during the summer. BENEFITS: 1. Make friends. 2. Build communication skills. 3.
