For a chance to put your waste management knowledge to the test, and learn more with Salt Lake City Master Recyclers, volunteer at the Downtown Farmers Market to help market patrons Waste Wise. Support recycling and waste reduction with patrons while hanging out at the best market in town!

For more information or to sign up, email Olivia Juarez at wastewise@downtownslc.org. The market runs every Saturday 8:00 AM-2:00 PM, June 13th through October 24th. Enjoy your day with a free loaf of bread or pastry from a market vendor for volunteering two hours or more!

If you are (or want to be) friendly, tolerant and outgoing, this postion is a fit for you; market patrons have a wide range of awareness about recycling in Salt Lake City, and you will support them in the good task of waste management. Volunteers are asked to take a shift during market hours to help educate people at Waste Wise stations about recycling, manage a compost system, and encourage vendors to Waste Wise as well.

Shift times are 8 AM - 10:30 AM, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM and 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM.

Mission Statement

The Downtown Farmers Market brings the community out to support local. With more than 200 vendors plus a weekly Art and Craft Market, shop for a unique variety of produce, meat, baked goods, prepared food and beverages, packaged foods and handmade art and crafts.

Description

The Downtown Farmers Market was created in 1992 by the Downtown Alliance and has become a summer tradition for residents of Salt Lake City and beyond. The Market provides opportunities for local growers, food and craft artisans to display and sell items to the public.

Located in Historic Pioneer Park, the Farmers Market has been a growing success for the last 20 years. With the addition of the Art & Craft Market, it has evolved into one of the west's largest community markets.

The focus of the Market is to provide local growers with the opportunity to bring fresh produce, as well as flora, bulbs, cheeses, eggs, and jellies directly to the public.
