Lead Groups of Volunteers through Projects at Seniors' Homes!

Meals On Wheels of San Francisco served over 3000 homebound seniors last year. We are experiencing tremendous growth in our volunteer department and we could use your help. We are looking for professional volunteers who can act as Project Leaders, coordinating and leading community and corporate groups, and advocating for the homebound seniors that Meals On Wheels serves through our Spring Cleaning All Year Round Program. Project Leaders are an integral part of our "Spring Cleaning All Year Round" program, which matches corporate, community and student volunteer groups with a homebound senior to offer a one-time, pick-me-up cleaning, organizing or home safety session. They also serve as the liaison between the senior and the volunteer group. Project Leaders meet with seniors before groups arrive to help seniors feel more comfortable, and to determine the scope of the project by assessing the senior's needs and checking for other safety concerns. They are also present during group cleanings to ensure a successful project. This is a great way to interact with a variety of our homebound senior clients, meet new people, lead small projects and have a direct impact on seniors' lives. We ask for a five-hour monthly or quarterly commitment, but the volunteer hours are very flexible and weekend opportunities available.
