Does your pet bring you joy?
Share that joy with senior citizens through Pet Visits!
Visiting with animals can help people feel less lonely and makes it easier for two strangers to talk. Visiting with volunteers and their pets brightens the day for the residents at various nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
We currently offer programs at 4 facilities. They are located in Cotswold (East Charlotte), Steele Creek (South East Charlotte), Waxhaw (Union County) and Mooresville (Iredell County). The projects take place weekends, weeknights and weekdays for one hour.
The pets don't need any special training or certification. They just have to be friendly and prepared to receive a lot of attention and praise.
Children 10 to 17 can participate with a parent or guardian.
