Heartland Hospice Volunteers are vital members of the Heartland Hospice Team that help the families we serve deal with illness, grief and loss. Training/Orientation provided. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Friendly Visiting: This can include visiting, reading, taking walks, writing letters, supervising visits with pets, even massage therapy for those volunteers with the necessary skills.
- Respite and support for family members: Family members also appreciate a visit from a compassionate friend who understands what they are going through.
- Bereavement Support Programs: Hospice volunteers can work closely with the hospice's professional bereavement staff in duties that range from assisting as a support group facilitator to setting up the refreshments.
- Administrative work: A volunteer can serve our hospice by helping in the office with simple administrative duties.
There are so many ways you can make a difference in the life of another. No matter which area you choose, you will find it extremely rewarding to be a part of the Heartland Hospice volunteer family.

Heartland Hospice is dedicated to following the hospice philosophy of care. Hopsice is a special kind of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of terminal illness. Hopsice care seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and to manage other sypmtoms so that the last days may be spent with dignity and quality at home or in a home-like setting. It is the goal of Heartland Hospice to provide palliative and supportive services to meet the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs to the patients and caregiveers in the home, health care facilities, or other residential settings. These services will be proveded without regard to race, religion, gender, creed, sex or ability to pay.
