Have you ever cared for a loved one in the hospital? If so, you know the worry and exhaustion that can occur during this stressful time. After long hours by a child's side, a tired and overwhelmed family often don't have the energy to tend to themselves. This is where YOU can help!
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are like "mini" Ronald McDonald Houses right inside the hospital. Our Odessa Family Room is located inside Medical Center Hospital, in the Women's and Children's Tower. Families use the rooms to eat, shower, access the computer, wash laundry, rest and reflect. This helps them to sustain themselves, so they can offer more nurturing to their healing child.
Family Room Volunteers greet families, give them a tour, bake cookies and make coffee, keep the room tidy and provide companionship to the families visiting the room.
Individuals and small groups are welcome! Volunteer alone, or join with a friend. This is a great opportunity for college students, couples or retirees. You can also invite your church group, social group, neighbors, Greek or professional organization to rotate and cover a weekly shift together!

Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Its programs are grassroots-driven to enable the Charity to offer help where children need it most - right in their own communities. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children's lives through its global network of local Chapters in 52 countries and its three core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. These programs provide a bridge to accessible health care and allow families more time together, which help in the healing process. RMHC and its global network of local Chapters also have awarded more than $460 million in grants and program services to children's programs around the world.
