RSVP is proud to partner with the Take Stock in Children program here in Brevard County and is currently recruiting volunteers who would like to be a part of the solution and be mentor.

Please consider sharing your time with a local middle or high school student. Brevard Schools Foundation is proud to purchase college scholarships for low-income, at-risk students. Volunteer mentors provide support and encouragement. You already have the heart and the knowledge; let us teach you how to mentor a student and help him/her go to college, achieve their dreams and break the cycle of poverty.

Brevard Schools Foundation’s Take Stock in Children program provides a unique opportunity for local students to escape the cycle of poverty through education. Volunteer mentors meet with their student each week at school throughout the school year. Together with our community, we provide scholarships, mentors and hope, changing futures and making dreams come true.

Mentors can be assigned a student anywhere in the county. However, there is a great need right now at specific locations. Please see details below:

  • Palm Bay High - 3 males, 7 females
  • Stone Middle - 7 males, 6 females
  • Titusville High - open
  • Bayside High - 1 male, 1 female
  • Heritage High - 2 females

If you want to learn how you can impact a student’s future, please contact us today!

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through sharing centers, meals on wheels, transportation, United Way, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
