Registration for State Summer Games has passed. Please feel free to join us as Fans in the Stands at any of the venues over the course of the weekend.
State Summer Games will take place on Friday, May 22, 2015- Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Southeastern University in Hammond, LA. The three-day event will kick-off with opening ceremonies followed by athletes with intellectual disabilities competing in volleyball, track & field, bocce, and powerlifting. Volunteers are encouraged to come out and support our athletes within the community by assisting with different tasks such as registration, handing out awards, measuring and timing of events, assisting athletes to thier needed locations, cheerleading, and much more. Join us for the entire event or part of it!
All Volunteers for Special Olympics Louisiana State level competitions are being asked to attend a pre-event orientation. The location for orientations for the State Summer Games will be held in Hammond, Louisiana:
- May 16th 10a, 11a, 12p;
- May 18th 5p, 6p, 7p;
- May 19th 5p, 6p, 7p.
Volunteer times include the following:
Friday, May 23rd
- Set-up Crew 12:30p- 4:30p
- Opening Ceremonies 5:00p-9:30p
Saturday May24th Morning
- 7:30a-12p
- 8a-4p
Saturday, May 24th Afternoon
- 12p-5p
- 6:30p-9:30p
Sunday, May 25th
- 7:30a-2p
- 9a-12p
Please include date of birth, t-shirt size, volunteer times and as well as the date and time of orientaiton when responding.

Special Olympics is the world's largest public health organization serving people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Louisiana offers over 100 sporting events and training camps to accommodate the wide range of athletic interests demonstrated by its athletes. Athletes are divided to compete against others of similar gender, age, and ability. Special Olympics Louisiana does not charge a fee to athletes (or their families) to train or compete.
