ORGANIZATION: OPTUM Palliative & Hospice Care (formerly Evercare Hospice)

  • 40 people are interested

Evercare Hospice is looking for volunteers who will provide companionship and socialization to our patients on Hospice. Hospice patients are in the final days, weeks or months of their life and would benefit greatly from someone compassionate & caring at their side during this time. You can expect our patients to enjoy sitting and talking with you or maybe just watching TV or a movie together. Many patients enjoy someone reading to them (a book, the newspaper, the bible) or you could compose a letter to their loved one or friends. You could simply sit and listen to them as they reminisce about their life. All volunteers must complete a training course specific to hospice and submit to a: 2 step TB test, drug screening and a criminal background check, Hepatitis B vaccination is offered but not mandatory. All Medical testing and background screening is done at no charge to the volunteer. Our patients are located throughout Orange County and reside either in their own home, Assisted Living, Nursing Facility or Board and Care - where ever they might call home. Hope to hear from you!
