Ethos is a private, not-for-profit organization that promotes the independence, dignity, and well-being of the elderly and disabled. Ethos achieves its mission through the coordination and delivery of high-quality, affordable home and community-based care.
The Ethos Internship Program exists to expand the agency’s capacity and service to seniors by providing quality educational experiences to students of all ages in a supportive and challenging learning environment.
The agency seeks an experienced student to assist in marketing and communication efforts. Supervision will be provided by the Community Relations Director, and intern will collaborate with a variety of the agency’s departments.
Work schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 5:00 (flexible)
Hours per week:
15 - 40 (flexible)
Internship duration:
1 - 2 semesters; spring, summer and fall internships available
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and copy creation of marketing and outreach materials, including flyers, calendars and other more.
- Monitor the agency’s presence in local, state and national media.
- Assist in creating media strategy, pitching stories and forming collaborations.
- Develop content for a blog, including articles about program highlights as well more general seniors issues.
- Conduct community outreach for events and programs and disseminate information about agency to elders, caregivers, family members, community organizations and referral sources.
- Develop and update agency’s social media profile.
Additional opportunities:
- Assisting at community events designed to increase socialization and healthy aging habits in independent seniors, including AgeWell West Roxbury events and SeniorPalooza.
Requirements:
- Design experience; advanced skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a must.
- Strong writing abilities; demonstrated experience writing articles and press releases.
- Prior experience working in a public relations agency, or similar organization, preferred.

Ethos is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1973 (as Southwest Boston Senior Services) for the purpose of serving the elderly and handicapped of Roslindale, West Roxbury, southern Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park and western Mattapan. The agency provides approximately 4,000 people per year with services such as: case management, protective services, homemaker/personal care, transportation, congregate and home delivered meals and volunteer opportunities.
