Being a FRIENDLY VISITOR is FUN and helps SUPPORT & LIFT the SPIRITS of older adults living in Dallas County (Texas) long-term care homes.
Note: we do not participate in court-appointed community service.
Friendly Visitors are compassionate individuals and groups who engage in fun and meaningful activities with residents living in Dallas County long-term care facilities to build social connections and to enrich their lives. The Senior Source provides opportunities for in-person and remote volunteer engagement. You can make a difference as a Friendly Visitor!
How You Can Help!
Volunteer in-person:
- Assist with games, arts & crafts, senior exercise, themed parties, entertainment/talent shows, one-on-one visits, basic gardening, & more
Note: you must follow facility COVID-19 healthcare screening protocols, anyone under the age of 18 may require adult supervision, background check may be required.
Volunteer remotely:
- Collect & donate pre-approved personal care items, recreational supplies, & pre-packaged snacks
- Create & send greeting cards & notes of encouragement
- Create arts & crafts to decorate resident rooms or surroundings
- Create short senior-friendly videos (educational, entertainment, family, hobbies, pets)

For more than 40 years, we've been THE SENIORSOURCE in the Dallas area. Today, The Senior Source, Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas operates 10 programs for the very active retiree to services for the most frail elderly in nursing homes, including intergenerational, eldercare, guardianship, in-home, and employment services.
