Mission Statement

The mission of The Literacy for Youth Foundation is to educate young children in financial awareness, healthy living, and what it takes to save our planet from grades K-12 by incorporating a fun, innovative and interactive curriculum through after-school and summer programs. We feel there is a great need for these programs due to our current world conditions. The Literacy for Youth Foundation strongly believes that by educating the young generation of children and future generations, we will change the genetic make up of our economy and our planet one child at a time. We will empower our students and make sure that we prepare and equip them for any financial situation they may encounter in their lives. By teaching our youth the Financial Awareness curriculum, we could decrease the rate of foreclosures, increase savings in our households, decrease the number of divorces due to financial stress and give the next generation a jump on achieving and maintaining high credit scores at an early age.

Description

The Literacy for Youth Foundation is unique in its drive and passion to change the economic makeup of the world one child at a time. We seek to partner with local, private, public and charter schools, in hopes to establish a successful collaboration in the school system. The Literacy for Youth Foundation will implement the "Junior Achievement TM Program" in the elementary through high schools as an after-school and summer program. We will have a selection process by creating alliances with educators and having them to select candidates for the program. The students will have an entry process as well as a graduation/completion process. There will be a formal selection process for the program and it will be at no cost to the student. The Literacy for Youth Foundation will have courses that are held in increments of quarters. It will be a high-honor to receive a certificate of completion from the program and eventually be recognized by the world as a graduate of our program with high accolades. Our students can also list this honor on their resume and instantly be highly sought after from large companies and corporations as someone with extreme financial competency.

Our organization has 4 teachers and 2 tutors that will work the after school and summer programs. The Financial Literacy program will be held on Mondays to our high school students every week. We will have three 1 hour session that will instruct 25 students per session .On Wednesdays, we will offer the Get fit exercise and wellness program for ages 8 -13. We will have three 1 hour session that will instruct 25 students per session. On Thursdays we will be at the local library teaching the Green Club program. This program will host 25 children every week and we will add member/other children to this program every 4 weeks. Each session will be 55 minutes long.

The foundation will implement the "Junior Achievement TM" program through a network of Public and Private School Systems, libraries, community centers and throughout other partner organizations. Our goal is to teach over 200 children over the summer all of our wonderful programs. During the school year we will have over 300 children join our "Get Fit" club and an additional 150 children to join the "Green Club". In a years’ time frame, we will have the ability to empower over 650 children’s and begin to change our community genetic make-up.
