Position Summary:
The intern will assist with the research, development and implementation of Do-it-Yourself (DIY) fundraising event tactics; and update current Chapter fundraising sources in order to further enhance the fundraising support we provide.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Fundraising research and recruitment of DiY fundraising event holders and opportunities.
- Development of fundraising materials to support event holders
- Marketing of DIY area and of events taking place
- Assist and implement existing fundraising strategies with current or prospective participants all year long
- Ensure DIY event information is provided and received by interested Event Coordinators
- Communicate with Event Coordinators on progress of events and needs from the Gateway Area Chapter
- Attend DIY events, and requested and available (varies)
- Update website with new DIY Fundraising Event Information as needed
- Other duties, based on intern interest, and agency priorities
Qualifications
- Special event planning, marketing, communications, or advertising student preferred.
- Strong writing, interpersonal skills, and computer skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments
- Excel and/or Publisher experience a plus

Description
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and nationwide network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
Seeking volunteers to the MS cause is the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fund-raising activities:
- Bike MS
- Walk MS
The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people living with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as:
- Marketing/Communications
- Public relations
- Corporate and donor development
- Medical, legal, administrative.
