Make a difference in the Latino Community by increasing awareness of multiple sclerosis.
Fulfill the objectives of the grant funded by the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park to provide outreach and public education about multiple sclerosis, specifically for people of Latino origin living in northern Lake County. This grant runs for approximately one year.Main responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with health care facilities such as the Lake County Health Department, community hospitals such as NorthShore HealthSystem facilities, faith based and service organizations, and social service agencies
- Raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Greater Illinois Chapter, specifically in health care facilities and community organizations
- Participate in Latino community health fairs and social events throughout the region to raise awareness about MS
- Utilize the Chapter’s staff and volunteers to network and connect to resources
- Increase enrollment of individuals with MS as registrants on the Society website
- Create at least one community event, such as a health fair as a focal event for the initiative
- Work with marketing staff to utilize social media and organization website to promote Latino outreach efforts and maintain inclusive presence
- Control expenses to within stated budget
- Maintain timely and accurate reports and timesheets

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer.
