Bridge Refugee Services is searching for committed volunteers who love working with people and are interested in helping another person start or continue learning English.
As a refugee resettlement agency, Bridge helps refugees start a new life in the United States. English/ESL volunteers are a wonderful one-on-one resource for people as they begin this journey.
Being able to speak English is crucial for refugees as they start their first job and learn about their new community.
Even if you have never taught English, this is a great opportunity to work with an individual or family as they improve their English skills. Volunteer training and basic ESL training are provided by Bridge in addition to ongoing support after the tutor and learner begin meeting.
If you are interested in volunteering with Bridge's ESL program or are interested in learning more about other volunteer opportunities, please contact Lesli at esl@bridgerefugees.org or at 865-540-1311 X13.

Description
Bridge Refugee Services, Inc. are a nonprofit agency operating in Knoxville and Chattanooga and committed to providing protection and assistance in refugees’ inspiring journey.
We recognize their plight, their resilience, and their willingness to join our community and make it their own. Become a part of America’s proud tradition of welcoming refugees and come join us as we work together, building lives in a new land.
We do not do this alone. Refugee resettlement can only happen in community, and it is with a cadre of volunteers, partners, donors, advocates-and the resilient bravery of clients themselves-that refugees are welcomed and supported in their quest for safety, security and home.
Bridge offers many services including employment services, cultural orientation, and assistance accessing social services and health screenings.
