There is something for everyone when you volunteer as an Adult Literacy Tutor.

When you volunteer 2-4 hours per week at the Oxnard Public Library you can work one-to-one with an adult to prepare them for the US Citizenship exam, become a fluent English speaker, get their high school credential, learn computer skills, get a licence, increase their job skills, become a more effective parent, and/or improve their reading and writing skills.

No teaching experience is needed. In two tutor preparation workshops, volunteers learn to use simple, effective techniques and materials to work with motivated adult learners. Volunteer to help an adult and share your passion as an Adult Literacy Tutor.

The Oxnard Public Library proudly serves a diverse city, with outstanding public programs, literacy services, a Teen Council, computer classes as well as books, dvds, magazines and more. There are many volunteer opportunities!
