Caring Community Member in the Los Angeles, Centinela Youth Services, seeks volunteers to learn and practice the life changing skill of MEDIATION with youth and families. Act soon - application deadline TRAINING BEGINS March 2014 Mediation (not meditation) involves facilitating a discussion between a youth who has committed an offense and their victim (VORS) or between parent and teen in conflict (FARS). They talk it out and then thinking, relationships and lives are changed. You can be part of this. IT IS EASY TO LEARN. Training takes around 40 hours spread out over three weeks. Hundreds have learned to mediate with CYS since 1992. BOTH KINDS OF MEDIATIONS HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF YOUTH AND FAMILIES! We receive cases from all over Los Angeles County, AND you must commit to mediate at least 12 families but when you do, you will know how to mediate (a life time skill). If you are already a mediator you will get invaluable experience and see kids who need tremendous help change before your eyes!! Once trained, CYS will send out a list of scheduled mediations and you can select one that meets your schedule (usually in the afternoon or evening). Commitment is usually for at least one or two mediations a month. Your life, their life and the community will be changed.
