The Computer Skills Co-instructor is responsible for providing computer instruction to adults and teens who visit the library. Co-instructors will work jointly with a librarian or another volunteer to provide hands-on computer instruction in basic computer skills and Microsoft Word 2010. Classes take place at the Fremont Main Library and the Newark Library (6300 Civic Terrace Avenue, Newark, CA). Co-Instructors must be willing to instruct at both libraries. On occassion, volunteers may be asked to assist in other technology related instruction at the library.

Training Requirements: 1.5 hours of training -March 21st, 2015 at the Fremont Main Library from 10:30-12:00 p.m. The training will provide information on the structure of the program and working with the public.

Time Commitment: Saturdays, April 2015- October 2015, co-instruct approximately 6 classes

Qualifications:

  • An understanding of computers and familiarity with Microsoft 2010.
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Willing to learn new technologies and ability to adapt to the use of different electronic devices
  • Ability to organize projects and revise or create class curriculum
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills
  • Ability to communicate instructional concepts in an easy to understand manner.
  • Must enjoy working with the public including different age groups and skill levels.
  • Patience and a sense of humor are required.

Description

Training, materials, and support are provided FREE. Online and inperson training is approx. 25 hours. Time coomitment is 3-4 hours/week
