Mission Statement

Only their faith can set them free from the bondage of this world, their addictions, crime, broken spirits, and destructive relationships.

When inmates are released from prison, statistics show that 75% of them will return. This is a staggering probability, and it shows that current methods of release & re-entry need to be re-examined. This is where faith comes into play. When prisoners commit their life to God and MAINTAIN that faith for a year after release, that statistic is turned on its head --- 80% will successfully alter their lifestyle and avoid returning to prison.

We supply for the basic needs of women on parole: food, shelter, clothing, grooming items, and safety. With these provisions, the women won't have to resort to crime to meet their basic needs.

Description

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Greater Is He transitional home for women aka the N.E.S.T.. Their essential service hours and dedication allow the N.E.S.T. to help the women residents rebuild their lives in a healthy, structured, secure environment. The Greater is HE Transition home is needing to be blessed with volunteers.Only their faith can set them free from the bondage of this world, their addictions, crime, broken spirits, and destructive relationships.

We have various opportunities at the NEST for volunteers to get involved. It provides you with an oppunity to grow in your faith, be obedient to Gods call, share Jesus, and love on others.

We are looking for:
...
Bible Study Facilitators
No preparation is required to come and lead an hour of bible study with the ladies. Books are provided. Varioustime slots and days are available.

Resident Accountability partners and mentors
Spend a few hours during the day with residents assisting with meal planning, organization, taking ground on goals, quality time, daytime staffing, and generally extending the love of Jesus in their life on a weekly basis.

Special Events
Saturday afternoons for 1-3 hours, with an activity of your choosing to share with the ladies. Going on a fun activity or event..
(i.e. sewing, gardening,painting, etc.) You will need to supply necessary materials.

Life Skills
Budgeting, resumes building, computer skills.etc.

Annual Fundraiser Committee
We are having our first annual fundraiser in the early spring, and we need those who enjoy party planning and organizing to help make it a success!

Financial Sponsors.
We always need those who can give on a one time or monthly basis, or donate toiletries, walmart gift cards for new residents to get clothing, womens gently used clothing, or nonperishable & frozen foods to support these w omens stay at the NEST.

General handyman work
Transporting donated furniture
Plumbing repair -- caulking sinks, showers, etc.
Basic carpentry
Gardening
Going on fun activities with the women
Grocery shopping with the women
Weekend relief for overnight coordinator
Office/administrative help
Fundraising/grant writing
Special events
Public Relations for the Home
Counseling Services or completing required service hours for medical/psych/substance abuse degrees
