Looking for a way to have an impact in your community? Have a passion to help seniors, veterans or just an overall desire to make a difference in someone's life?
Come join us and deliver meals to home bound seniors. It's the most enjoyable and rewarding experience to hand a freshly prepared meal to a home bound senior who struggles to shop and cook for themselves. We serve seniors from Jupiter to Delray, including many veterans of both Korea, Vietnam and even World War ll.
Currently our meal deliveries are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Pickup time is mid-morning and most routes take between 1.5 and 2 hours. We currently need volunteers in Delray Beach to deliver meals - so if you're free please don't hesitate and call now!
You can commit to a once a week delivery schedule OR be on stand-by as a sub - your choice.
We are "More than a meal", providing a hug, smile, laugh when needed and being the eyes and ears for family members.
Please call us to get started - (561) 802-6979 x 3. We'll email you the volunteer application, invite you to a Zoom orientation, and get you started as a Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches volunteer. No experience or particular skills needed - just a willingness to serve. Delivery volunteers do need a cell phone and the ability to read the directions and instructions on our route sheets.
Minimum age is 18 and all volunteers must have a valid drivers license, an insured vehicle and pass a criminal background check.

Description
MOWPB’s program is designed to address the needs of America’s most vulnerable senior population, the homebound, by delivering a meal and so much more. Our mission is centered on providing three life essentials: (1) nutritious well-balanced meals, (2) a friendly hello and smile to encourage companionship and ease isolation and (3) a watchful eye on the safety and health of our seniors. Our kitchen volunteers plate freshly cooked meals each morning, Monday through Friday. Our delivery volunteers are bringing a smile along with the meals 3 days a week (our COVID-19 schedule). Our three-part platform ensures homebound seniors have access to adequate nutrition, human connection, and emergency medical attention when necessary. All too often, these essentials are lost when homebound seniors live alone. Volunteers are the wheels beneath our meals and keep our program in motion.
