ORGANIZATION: House of Hope

Do you enjoy working with customers in a retail environment? Join our team and empower Martin County residents to overcome hunger & hardship!

The holiday shop is open at our Stuart thrift location and its a great time to help our community. Volunteers can be trained to perform any of the tasks listed below. Tell us your interests and we will make sure you feel fulfilled by your volunteer service at House of Hope!

Thrift Store Volunteers:

In addition to operating our clothes closet program for clients, our thrift stores generate approximately 46% of House of Hope’s income, allowing us to continue providing vital services to those in need. Help us in one of our thrift stores by:

  • Sorting and pricing donations
  • Arranging and displaying inventory on the sales floor
  • Greeting and assisting customers and/or clients
  • Cash register check-out

All active volunteers receive a 30% discount on regular priced items* (exclusions apply)

About House of Hope:

House of Hope's mission is to empower Martin county residents to overcome hunger and hardship. Our services are designed to empower people in need and afford them the greatest opportunity for health, financial stability and life success. Our programs include Client Choice Food Pantries, clothes closets, financial assistance, and long-term case management. We also have several nutrition gardens which teach healthy eating habits and provide our pantries with fresh produce. In July, we will be opening the Golden Gate Center for enrichment which will offer free programs and services focused on education, vocation, health and nutrition, life skills, and arts and culture.

We have locations in Stuart, Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach, and Indiantown.

Description

Founded in 1984, House of Hope now touches the lives of approximately 7,000 people per month with services that include basic needs - food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance - and long-term case management that helps people build life skills for a more self-sufficient future. The agency has service centers and thrift stores in Stuart, Hobe Sound, Indiantown and Jensen Beach.

Our clients are typically low-wage workers, fixed-income senior citizens, single parents, the recently unemployed and people suffering through personal life crises.

Over the past year, our programs have grown to include several nutrition gardens and an enrichment center which offers free programs and services focusing on education, vocation, health and nutrition and arts and culture.
