Remember that guy you always looked up to? Now it's your turn to be that guy for someone else by becoming a mentor.
The Mentor Advantage Program (MAP) matches youth ages 12-17 with mentors based on career fields of interest. Mentors are asked to make a commitment of spending 4 hours a month, or an hour a week, with their mentee.
Hang out, play basketball, show them where you work, talk about what they want to do after they graduate and how to get there- do whatever interests the two of you. Be a role model, and have fun.
Does the following describe you? If so a student is waiting to meet you!
- Career in management/sports business
- Career in law enforcement/armed forces
- Works with computers
- Career in architecture or graphic design

Mission Statement
Mission: To engage and connect Iowa students through youth development programming and to provide coaching, training, and technical assistance in best practices to youth serving non-profits. Vision: An Iowa where all youth have access to high-quality opportunities that prepare them for success in school, work, and life.
Description
Community Youth Concepts helps youth, ages 10-24, discover their own talents and passions by exploring what motivates them. We believe that by tapping into what motivates a student, you can help them see the relevance of education to their life and create strong, supportive relationships that will help them be successful in life. We use youth-driven and youth-led service as our primary vehicle for reaching youth, with a secondary vehicle being to train adults in youth development best practices.
Community Youth Concepts was born in 2008 from a desire to bridge research and practice. We have come to be viewed as the "how of youth development." Since 2009, CYC has trained youth workers from approximately 80 organizations across Iowa and has engaged over 50 partner organizations and 100+ volunteers to help youth find their own direction.
