Computer Lab
Latino Leadership LULAC Technology Center

Do you like computers? Great! Share your computer skills in our LULAC Computer Lab and help members of the community gain a competitive edge in school and in the job market.

Our computer lab gives volunteers the opportunity to work in a 10:1 or 1:1 environment while supporting adults with learning basic computer skills.

Participants can range in skill level, but helping them succeed is the best reward! If you can surf the web, have knowledge using MS Office applications, and have the ability to teach, we need you.

Schedule: 2-3 hour weekly morning and/or afternoon shifts available, M-F

What you'll do:

  • Develop program to provide a productive experience for lab users
  • Teach adults basic computer skills: help with online job search & email setup
  • Offer advice on self-presentation: resumes, cover letters, and professionalism
  • Direct adults to community resources (housing, childcare, etc.)
  • Assist with specials projects and lab maintenance
  • Orient new participants to lab policies, software, and accessibility tools
  • Help maintain a professional environment and ensure that guests use the lab appropriately

What you'll gain:

  • Training/guidance from staff on computer skills and resume/cover letters
  • Hands-on experience working with adults in a diverse community setting

Helpful skills:

  • Comfortable with MS Word, internet browsing, and general computer use
  • Ability to engage adults of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
  • Comfortable guiding adults on resume and cover letter content and format
  • Self-directed, patient, flexible, and dependable
  • Commitment to helping adults improve their job search skills
  • Teaching or tutoring experience with adult learners helpful

Latino Leadership was founded in 1999 in Orlando. As a 501c3 non-profit community-based organization, it seeks the education, economic development and political empowerment of the Hispanic community in Central Florida.
