Faced with the challenge of keeping up with continual home maintenance while being able to put food on the table, seniors and financially struggling individuals often find themselves living in deteriorating conditions.
JRAid, a program of the Jewish Relief Agency, provides a wide array of services through its dedicated volunteers and partners. But because we often receive requests for home repairs that require more than that of an amateur, JRAid is seeking licensed and insured contractors that are willing to donate their time to help improve the homes of those in the Greater Philadelphia area. Our largest needs are for roofing, drywall, plumbing, and electical, but we do get other requests as well (flooring, tile work, masonry, and more).
You are welcome to pick your level of commitment!

About Jewish Relief Agency
Location:

Mission Statement
The mission of JRA is to assist families according to their individual needs. The Agency brings volunteers of all means, ages and backgrounds into a universe of give and take. Through its energetic leadership, the Jewish Relief Agency creates excitement around the fundamental values of charity and community service. By providing meaningful and fun events attractive to a broad base of volunteers, the Jewish Relief Agency satisfies our unique desire to take care of each other and do good in the world. At the same time, these events, such as our monthly food distributions, allow those among us who are less fortunate to benefit from the kindness of the community, easing their daily struggle for survival.
Description
JRA food distributions take place one Sunday each month throughout the year at our warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia. From 10:00 until 11:30 volunteers work together to package kosher, non-perishable food in boxes. After packing, volunteers load their cars and deliver the food packages to each of the recipient families according to pre-determined delivery routes, complete with driving directions and maps. Volunteers may stop back at the warehouse to return any undeliverable boxes or, if there are no boxes to be returned, volunteers may mail or fax the delivery route to the JRA business office. Most delivery routes take between 30-60 minutes to complete.
Please be advised: we are closed on Jewish and federal holidays
