RISE is a program provided byMarion Downs Center-Hearing, Speech, and Language. RISEis a fun, educational approach to school readiness for children ages 3 to 6. You can help young people get off to a good start! RISE, a school readiness program for low-income and refugee children, focuses on enhancing vocabulary and motor skill development for Pre-K and Kindergarten students through reading, art, music and movement. The mission of rise is to build and support community-wide literacy by equipping preschoolers and their families with fundamental tools used in the development of English vocabulary, the ability to read and write and the capacity to think creatively.Volunteer group leaders spend an hour and a half one day a week at sites 9 located in Metro Denver. Volunteer opportunities range from midday (9:30- 12pm), late afternoon (4 - 5:30) and evening (6:30 - 8) Monday through Thursday. Please contact us for more information. We will provide training and all the necessary material to make this a rewarding and enjoyable volunteer experience, allowing you to give back to the community.

The Marion Downs Center provides culturally sensitive services, resources, education, and research to support the needs of individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or communicatively challenged, their families, and the professionals who serve them. We provide state of the art services to all ages and all economic groups. All activities value individual/family choice in communication and use of technology, while striving to optimize the quality of life for all that we serve.
Description
The Marion Downs Centeris recognized worldwide for its leadership, progressive innovations and
cutting edge clinical service. Its mission is to value and promote individual and family choice in
treatment, technology, and communication options for individuals with hearing loss and their
families. The Marion Downs Center has merged with the Center for Hearing, Speech and Language. For 96 years, the Center for Hearing, Speech and Language has had a remarkable presence in Colorado.
Their extraordinary legacy was built through enriching peo- ple’s lives by providing innovative,
caring and high-quality services for people with barriers to communication, regardless of financial
status.
Now, these two organizations have combined their efforts into the new Marion Downs Center, a
"Center of Excellence" with a combined vision to serve our community with the highest level of
service, support and education.
Our Purpose: To provide resources, services and education to meet the needs of individuals who are
deaf and hard of hearing or communicatively challenged, their families and the professionals who
work with them.
Our Vision: To serve as a unique organization providing outstanding and innovative service, education and support to fill a growing need locally and globally.
