Mentor & Mentee INTERN (M&M)

Description

The M&M (Mentor and Mentee) Program Intern will serve as an integral part of the staffing team, with responsibility for elements of ongoing program management and maintaining communication between the volunteers, parents, and the staff of the agency.

The M&M Intern will work to assist in the CHSFS Post Adoption Services staff by recruiting and screening volunteers and mentees for the M&M Program. The M&M Intern will also communicate with volunteer mentors provide assistance in training new mentors, prepare materials for recruitment purposes, work with volunteers making plans for group events, track information as needed for program maintenance and statistics, conduct evaluations, comply with all policies and procedures of CHSFS, attend trainings, meetings and group events, as scheduled and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in recruiting and screening volunteers and mentees for the M&M Program.
2. Communicate with volunteer mentors with regard to matches and program events.
3. Provide assistance in training new mentors.
4. Prepare materials needed for public information and recruitment purposes.
5. Work with volunteers making plans for group events.
6. Track information as needed for program maintenance and statistics.
7. Conduct evaluations.
8. Comply with all policies and procedures of CHSFS.
9. Attend trainings, meetings and group events, as scheduled
10. Other duties as needed.

Skills

  • experience with needs of adopted youth: Qualifications: 1. Knowledge and/or experience with the needs of internationally adopted youth. 2. Competence in using the computer, specifically in Microsoft Programs such as Word and Excel. 3. Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills. 4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. 5. Ability to work as a team member and to accept responsibility. 6. Ability to act independently and to seek consultation when needed. 7. Commitment to the value of volunteerism and mentoring. 8. Understanding and acceptance of children and parents from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
