Mission Statement
The Grain Project is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation organized to promote unified, healthy, sustainable communities by establishing farmers' markets, community gardens and public art projects.
Description
The Grain Project encourages support and participation from businesses, schools, social service organizations, politicians, artists and religious groups to successfully bridge social and economic gaps within the community. Currently, we hold the Santa Ana Farmers' Market every Wednesdayfrom 3:00 - 7:00. The Market provides a venue for exchange between Southern California's marginalized small farmers and the local, under-served residential population. Additionally, the Market acts as a hub for the community to learn about free and low-cost local health and community-based resources. In the future, The Grain Project will establish community gardens throughout the city of Santa Ana. Community gardens transform stagnant, vacant lots into vibrant greenscapes that promote health, education, community and beautification of the city. Other endeavors mentioned in the mission statement are in progress as well.
