Learn to sail a tall ship!
The 1885 schooner Pioneer needs your help! We are looking for volunteer crew members to help sail Pioneer during weekdays, weeknights, and on the weekends beginning May 1st until mid October! Previous sailing experience is helpful, but not required. Training is provided.
Help us continue to share Pioneer's rich history with the public and engage citizens with New York Harbor!
Requirements: Must attend at least two training sails, which are held every Saturday morning from 0830-1200, and take a US Coast Guard mandated drug test.
Must be above the age of 16. All skill levels are welcome. Training is provided.
The South Street Seaport Museum preserves and interprets the origins and growth of New York City as a world port, a place where goods, labor, and cultures are exchanged through work, commerce, and the interaction of diverse communities.

- Participants must attend at least four two-hour sails each month and one training sail each month.
- Participants must have a level of physical fitness to be able to navigate a larger ship on the water, lift heavy objects, throw dock lines far, hear instructions and receive instructions.
