A program of Interfaith Works, the ICC has assisted low-income Montgomery County residents for more than 30 years. The ICC accepts donations of gently used or new children’s, women’s and men’s clothing and shoes; home goods including dishes, small appliances, lamps and linens; new infant items including diapers, toys and books.
Volunteers will be assigned duties needed for the day when they arrive and these may include: helping clean, arrange and maintain a safe environment for the clients and visitors, sorting and organizing donations, hanging clothes, greeting donors, and other duties as determined by the site/service coordinator. Tasks shift on a daily basis and cannot be preselected by volunteers. The clothing center is open Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm and Saturday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Volunteers 16 years of age and above do not need supervision while those who are between ages 13 and 15 will need an adult to accompany them. The age limit for volunteers at the ICC is 13 years of age.
Short-term and long-term volunteers, groups or individuals, hourly or daily commitments are welcomed and appreciated. Schools, congregations, businesses, service organizations, clubs and camps are needed to sponsor drives for clothing, housewares, children's books, new underwear and socks, new toys, new school supplies, and new layette items for infants.
