Volunteers in this role provide companionship to a senior or person with a disability in their home to help diminish loneliness and social isolation. Volunteers and clients may simply chat, play cards, go for a walk, or do other activities while spending time together. These partnerships often develop into life-long friendships.
Volunteer-client matches are based on similar interests and geographic convenience for the volunteer. The time commitment is 1-2 hours every week or every other week. Scheduling is very flexible and is coordinated directly between the volunteer and client.
