Quality of care is one of the cornerstones of our mission - a mission that could not be accomplished without the many 'helping hands' of our volunteers. For nearly 20 years, Arbor Hospice has provided a full range of expert care and support in our homelike Residence of Arbor Hospice. At this location, patients have the opportunity to live life to the fullest in a comfortable, supportive environment as our staff sees to their physical and emotional needs. Life at The Residence is centered on the needs and wishes of our patients, who are often visited by family and friends.

In order to greet new patients, their families and friends, and members of the public, we are seeking volunteers to be placed at our front Welcome Desk on weekends and weekday evenings. In addition to greeting visitors, Welcome Desk volunteers are also asked to direct visitors to patient rooms, restrooms, elevators, and to provide them with brochures on our services. Additionally, Welcome Desk volunteers often provide a listening ear and supportive presence to our visitors.

If you enjoy meeting new people, and have an empathetic ear, this is the ideal opportunity for you. Volunteers with availability during weekday evenings and weekends are needed most, and we ask that our volunteers make at least a one year commitment to our organization. Volunteers will be provided with ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout their service with us, and will be invited to ongoing education opportunities, and appreciation events. Our volunteers must complete an online application, interview, background checks, an orientation class, fingerprinting, and annual TB testing.

Arbor Hospice requires that any person who has suffered a personal loss wait a period of 12 months prior to volunteering. Thank you for considering this enriching and unique volunteer opportunity.
